Why Vehicle Features Coding Matters

ACRISS is developing a new Vehicle Features Coding standard to enhance the existing ACRISS Car Classification System and support the transition to electric and low-emission vehicles. The initiative is designed to provide customers, distributors, and technology partners with richer vehicle information, helping renters make more informed choices during the booking process.

The mobility industry is evolving rapidly, with increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), alternative fuel vehicles, and guaranteed model bookings. Traditional vehicle classification alone is no longer enough to communicate the growing range of vehicle features, specifications and environmental information customers expect.

Phase 1 Electrification and Environmental Focus

The initial phase introduces a simplified features framework using existing data already available within the ACRISS Car Code List and distributed through ACRISS Cloud along with the car images. It also allows provision of our members own data.

These features provide customers with clearer environmental and EV performance guidance while allowing technology partners to integrate standardised feature data into their systems.

CO2 Emissions Efficiency

ACRISS has developed a traffic-light style CO2 efficiency guide based on emissions data and industry regulations following the same coding used by the appliances to measure energy efficiency. Vehicles are categorised from A+ to F.

EV Battery Range and EV Charging Times

This allows customers to compare vehicles more easily and supports environmentally friendly mobility choices.

EV Battery Range and EV Charging Times

EV battery range coding provides estimated driving range categories to help customers better understand electric vehicle capabilities before booking. Range bands are grouped into standardised categories, enabling consistent display across booking platforms and distribution systems. These are subject to driving conditions, driving style and environment.

In addition we are also providing EV Battery charging times DC kW charging for some BEV vehicles from our ACRISS Car code lists, these are estimates and subject to DC charging station and charging speed used (up to 80% charge). Charging times depend on slow, fast to rapid charging speeds and measured in kW,  see Electric and Hybrid info

Delivered Through ACRISS Cloud

ACRISS Cloud acts as the primary distribution platform for Vehicle Features Coding data. The solution enables car rental companies and technology partners to receive standardised vehicle features alongside existing ACRISS vehicle classification data.

Future Development

ACRISS plans to expand the Vehicle Features Coding framework to include additional vehicle information such as safety, comfort and technology features.

Future phases will further support improved digital retailing, enhanced filtering, and greater consistency across the global mobility ecosystem.
