ACRISS Constitution

ACRISS (formerly known as the Association of Car Rental Industry Systems Standards) is a leading industry association dedicated to developing and promoting standards across mobility services, including car and van/truck rental and transfers.

Originally established in 1989 by leading car rental and travel technology companies, ACRISS was formally constituted in 1992 as a European Economic Interest Group (EEIG). Since its formation, the association has played a key role in improving transparency, consistency, and industry best practices across electronic booking and distribution systems.

While the ACRISS Constitution has evolved over time to reflect changing legal, regulatory, and operational requirements, the association’s core objectives and framework have remained consistent since its original establishment.

Following Brexit, the constitution was updated at the end of 2020 to reflect ACRISS’ revised legal status and transition to ACRISS UKEIG (UK Economic Interest Group). These revisions introduced modernised terminology and updated legal provisions to support the organisation’s continued growth and future development, while maintaining the original principles and objectives upon which ACRISS was founded.
