ACRISS –  Formerly ‘The Association of Car Rental Industry System Standards’

ACRISS  was formed in 1989 by Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz to formulate and recommend standards for use in the design, installation and use of computerised systems operated by travel agents and others for the reservations of car rental services.  It was shortly joined thereafter by the main computer reservation systems at the time (Global distribution systems).

Since then it has grown in membership and its objectives, though broadly the same, has extended to all forms of electronic distribution systems including online booking systems and travel technology companies.

ACRISS‘ influence has grown as it continues to support the car rental industry and mobility services whilst still looking to recommend and set standards to the benefit of the industry, its members and the end user.

Who We Are

ACRISS develops, implements and maintains standards for car rental and mobility industries for use in all electronic distribution systems enabling customers to book with confidence.

What We Do

ACRISS works to ensure the provision of accurate information when booking car rental through electronic booking systems, enabling both travel professionals and consumers to make informed decisions with confidence.

How We Do It

ACRISS members identify areas where industry standards are needed to prevent misleading information within the car rental sector. Dedicated project teams then develop and implement these standards to achieve agreed objectives within defined timeframes.
